General Information For Applicants

The YWCA VTOC Kuala Lumpur has, since 1998 been recruiting economically disadvantaged Malaysian girls and women, aged 17 – 25 years, into our residential Courses of Study, to learn income-generating skills, and transform their future through our efforts. These girls will be provided accommodation, food, transport (where applicable), tuition, uniforms, and stationery while they undertake their Courses. The VTOC is an educational institution registered with the Ministry of Education, and is managed by a Board of Governors.

The VTOC accepts without discrimination, Malaysian girls of all races and religions into our different Courses of Study. The VTOC respects all faiths. Every year, the study year begins on second week of January and ends with the trainees receiving their certificates at an official ceremony on the first week of December, with semester breaks in-between.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

The trainees will be given opportunities to attend talks and workshops, receive first-level counselling, and engage in a range of activities which help them with general personal development, enabling them to manage their lives responsibly.

DISCIPLINE

All Courses are fully residential, and a high level of discipline is required of trainees who are accepted by the VTOC. Except for semester breaks, trainees leave the premises by permission only, on special occasions or according to passes which have been applied for in advance. The VTOC will not accept any responsibility for the behaviour of trainees when they are outside the VTOC.

APPLICATIONS

Places are granted after an interview. One application form per trainee must be completed and returned to the VTOC office as soon as possible, with all the documentation asked for (including copies of certificates), and all information completed on the form.
