Fashion & Tailoring

The Fashion & Tailoring Course covers two main components: Tailoring and Fashion Design. Under the Tailoring component, trainees learn how to sew a variety of garments ranging from children’s dresses to skirts and blouses for adults, baju kurung, baju kedah, baju kebaya, evening dresses, ready-made sarees, saree blouses and salwar kameez.  Basic beading and embroidery work is also taught.  Internships for gaining practical experience are arranged where possible.

In 2023, the Fashion Design component was introduced to provide basic knowledge in fashion design, so that trainees have an additional option to set up their own brand and business in the future. Trainees will learn to do draping as a design approach, develop a fashion collection for an existing brand, create digital fashion drawings, and create their own brand profile and personal collection. Trainees shall sew one garment from their personal collection for a photoshoot. At the end of the course, trainees shall present their brand profile in a final crit session.

  • Entry requirements: Preference will be given to applicants who possess the PT3 (Pentaksiran Tingkatan Tiga) though those with the UPSR (Ujian Penilaian Sijil Rendah) will also be considered.

  • Course duration: 12 months
